So I came across this neat little short entitled “Ride Bikes, Fall in Love With Where You Live”.
What a great slogan. An alternative to the tired environmental and economic calls to action perhaps.
The idea that you will fall in love with your city (and the people in it) by getting around by bike – more so than by other modes of transport – is beautifully simple. In my own experience there is definitely truth in this. Having a greater appreciation or affinity for your surrounds if you travel by bike over car really resonates with me. Let’s call it operating at the human scale. Then again, I’m an urban planner so dig this sort of stuff. At the end of the day we ride for all sorts of reasons. This short film pays homage to one of the more underrated, intangible elements of getting around on two or three wheels.
What do you think? Do you feel the same way? Does the film do this concept justice?
Update! A related short animation (also below) has been released by the Newcastle University Bicycle Users Group. This one is about happiness levels!
